FAQs about our scar release treatments:
How long after surgery can I have treatment?
We recommend treatment on your scar/s after 8 weeks post operation and once it has completely healed and there is no scabbing or signs of infection. It’s also important that you feel ready for it to be touched. We have a very nurturing process that makes you feel comfortable with the treatment.
Is it normal to have pain, discomfort, pulling in and around my scar?
It is common to experience pain, discomfort and pulling sensations around your scar/s but it is not normal to have these symptoms. These indications that your scar needs some release work.
I don’t feel like there is anything wrong with my scar, should I still come in?
Our opinion is, YES! We do a full body assessment as well as breath assessment which can be impacted by the surgery and recovery time. For c-section scars, a lot of the restrictions come from pregnancy not just the surgery.
I’ve had a c-section but I want more kids, should I get treatment before another baby?
Absolutely. The treatment can be very beneficial to reconnect to your abdominal muscles and improve your posture which is crucial going into your next pregnancy. Reducing the scar tissue can also have an effect on reducing stretch marks due to increased collagen and tissue stretch post treatment.
Is it just a massage on the scar? Can’t I just massage it myself?
We assess and treat all associated areas around the scar. It is not purely just a massage on the scar. For example, our c-section release is treatment of the entire abdomen and for breast release we treat all muscles that connect to the shoulder to restore range of motion as well as breath restoration.
Will you show me how to release the scar myself?
Yes, self care is the key to long lasting results. We will empower you with a routine to continue at home.
